There's a lot more to Long Beach Island NJ than our sugar sand beaches touched by the clear blue Atlantic Ocean!  If you've decided to rent a home or apartment for a week, month or the entire season, rest assured that there's plenty to do, both on "The Island" and across the Bay on "The Mainland!"

OUTDOORS: Did you know that the NJ Pine Barrens is about 15 minutes from Long Beach Island? These million-plus acres offer an entirely different outdoor experience from the beautiful beaches of Long Beach Island! Canoe through the Pine Barrens on its pristine rivers, hike the 50-mile Batona Trail where you might be lucky enough to spot some rare wild orchids or an eagle soaring overhead, visit historical villages like Batsto or Whitesbog, browse through museums....there's lots to do do out there - but beware of the JERSEY DEVIL (but you can sign up for a Jersey Devil Hunt)!!  Visit http://www.pineypower.com/ for the area's most comprehensive guide and calendar of events for the Pine Barrens.

SHOPPING: Just across the Route 72 causeway bridge is a collection of well-known stores offering everything from groceries to hardware. Lowe's and Home Depot, Shop-Rite and Pathmark, Costco and BJ's, Pet-Smart, Target, Kohl's, Staples, Pier 1, and more all run along the southern side of Route 72 from just west of the Garden State Parkway to Route 9. If that's not enough, HAMILTON MALL is just over a half hour away to the south (about 15 minutes west of Atlantic City), and OCEAN COUNTY MALL is about a half hour to the north. For outlet shopping, ATLANTIC CITY OUTLETS to the south, or JACKSON PREMIUM OUTLETS in northwestern Ocean County should keep you busy for days on end!

POINTS OF INTEREST: TUCKERTON SEAPORT - Filled with nautical history of the bayshore and surrounding area including the mystique of the Pirates that once sailed our waters, this wonderful village should be a "must see" during your visit to Long Beach Island, no matter what time of year! DOUBLE TROUBLE STATE PARK in Berkeley Township, just a short drive from the Island, has a genuine cranberry harvest each October, and the public is welcome to come watch at no charge!

Have a question?  Whatever it is, give Stevens Real Estate a call at 1-800-494-5315. We'll be happy to answer your questions.  After all, that's why we're here!
